In the ancient world gods and goddesses were presented as complex personages of greater or lesser status, with individual skills, needs, desires and histories. In various religious beliefs and rituals practiced in the past their fate was intertwined with people. Gods and goddesses often had similar human traits in their personality, they even could be in conflict with one another. Yet, they also posessed additional powers, abilities, knowledge and perception, and could impact a life of a simple mortal.
